Katie Sommer-Ford and Bridget Munroe are career advisors at NMC. They have researched extensively the findings of how peoples lived experiences impact their approach to working with others and what they seek for personal fulfillment.
Community college students include recent high school graduates and older adults seeking retraining, creating a generationally diverse classroom. Katie and Bridget designed their program to help both students and staff to understand how life and career experiences influence their approach to education. Their presentation covered generational differences from “baby boomers” (1946-1964) to “Gen Z” (1995-2010), discussing variations in work-life balance, motivators, and communication preferences.
