On January 3 kids from our community had a great time learning how to cross country ski at Crystal Mountain. This was the first session of Crystal Community Ski Club's new Nordic Squirrel program for ages 8 - 10.
Last year the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Foundation donated money to CCSC for the purchase of 20 pairs of Nordic skis for our youth to use. Having this equipment for kids to use at no additional cost is one of the important ways to reduce barriers to kids participating in skiing and being able to join the Club programs. Having enough equipment for kids is even more important this year with strict COVID-related protocols to keep everyone safe.
CCSC is planning to get started at the local elementary schools before the end of January and is looking for volunteers to help out at the schools. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Michelle Russell at mrussell4486@gmail.com or 231.944.8625.
