Today Keith Krause gave his new member bio.  Keith and his family reside in a Chicago suburb but also have a place on Platte Lake.

As an Illinois resident with ties to Benzie County, Keith learned that the pandemic had a silver lining--the ability to "attend" weekly meetings from a distance. He began as a Rotary Friend before being sponsored for membership by Bruce Wildie.

Keith was the youngest of four children of the late Sunrise Rotarian Tim Krause and his wife Carole. He attended Northwestern Michigan College and then Michigan State, whose turf maintenance program Keith described as "awesome."  Since 2014 he has been a sales rep for Harrell's, a company founded in 1942 that is a full-service turf and ornamental solutions provider to a variety of industries, including golf.  Since 2016 the company been 100% employee-owned.

A self-described golf nerd, Keith provided fun golf facts underscoring the growth of the golf industry in the year of the pandemic.  He also talked at length about the Crystal Downs Golf Course, the Benzie County course designed by renowned golf architect Alister MacKenzie, who also designed Augusta National.  Even though it is a private country club, Keith says we are fortunate to have such a landmark in our own back yard.

Keith and wife Sara were married in Honor 18 years ago.  They have three kids--Lucy (14), Max (11) and Delilah (9)--and they are all big Blackhawk fans.  Keith's many interests include fishing, snowmobiling and comedy.  Keith says his father was his best friend and someone who taught through his enthusiasm and actions.
