Eric Moore is the Watershed Coordinator for lakes in both Benzie and Manistee counties and works for the Benzie Conservation District.  He is also a member of the Northwest Michigan Watershed Coalition.  

The purpose of his work centers around empowering communities to prioritize water quality in all decision-making processes in Northwest Michigan. 

 

Included in his Coalition work is facilitating a steering committee to drive measurement and recommended actions to limit the spread of invasive species in our lakes through the usage of science and research.  

Eric works as part of a team in the Coalition to provide leadership, provide information, and explain consequences/outcomes to drive community/lake association decision making

Key Activities and Programs Eric and others are driving:

  • Provide a ‘one stop shop’ to consider for water impacts before they develop.
  • Community based monitoring for Eurasian Milfoil to eliminate/contain takeover of lakes.
  • Provide a ‘waterside’ chat with interesting topics important to communities.
  • Water Quality Monitoring - provide a comprehensive approach that is consistent across the region.
  • Serve as a resource for anything water.
