Rick Schmitt described the new microbrewery that is opening in June in downtown Frankfort.

Formerly a Vice President at Crystal Mountain and presently an owner of the Garden Theater, Rick told of his new entrepreneurial venture in Frankfort. Rick and co-principal Brian Confer are building their new facility next to the Garden Theater.  When completed, the brewery will not only make and sell Belgian-inspired ales but also will purchase and market wine. In addition there will be a restaurant with a limited, healthy menu. The owners envision their new microbrewery as a "Third Place" (after home and work) where people will want to hang out.

The new business will create jobs locally--8 full-time employees and 15-17 summer employees. While the severe winter delayed construction by a couple of weeks, the microbrewery will open in June. Community interest for the new operation was apparent from the Q & A session that followed Rick's PowerPoint presentation.
