Jim Brouwer explains how ThinkAboutCollege.net is an effort to close the college counseling gap.

School budget cuts have eliminated many high school counselors, to the point that 75% of public schools are without college counselors. Most parents cannot afford independent counselors, and present Internet resources are ineffective. ThinkAboutCollege.net seeks to close the gap by offering personalized college planning that guides students and parents through the process like a counselor would.

The website encourages editorial opinions and provides only relevant information. It is supported by sponsors whose advertising is directed to three schools for $275 a year. Questions from the membership reflected much interest in the subject.
