Veteran pilot and Frankfort Rotarian Jim Radabaugh described the September 2015 trip that he took wife with Pam to many of the national parks in the west, showing us many great photos both from the air and from the ground.

Flying over (and photographing!) our national parks is not a simple matter.  The challenges included:
  • finding the right aircraft (a Cessna 182 in Jim's case),
  • taking a mountain-flying training course,
  • preparing an itinerary, and
  • getting the proper tools (an iPad with ForeFlight software for the cockpit).
With a rented plane and rental car Jim and Pam started at Denver and ended back there 22 days later.  In between they saw national treasures in Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California and Utah. Not all of their time was spent in the air; they also hiked at several parks, visited vineyards and attended the Monterey Jazz Festival.

After fielding questions Jim concluded by saying that we all need to find new adventures.  His challenge to us:  "Pick something and do it!"
