Joe Hollenbeck is a Frankfort native who is Principal at the Lincoln American School in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Joe's first administrative job in education was as Principal for the Junior/Senior High School in Frankfort.  Before and since that assignment he has worked at international schools in a variety of locations including Greece, Malaysia and Kenya. These are independent private schools that were started with the growth of U.S. business abroad, as Americans overseas needed places for their kids to go to school.

The international schools are accredited in the U.S., and their graduates are accepted into colleges in the U.S. and elsewhere.  In that regard Joe's school has mostly a Common Core curriculum, but the school also has an IB (International Baccalaureate) program that provides qualification for most universities worldwide.

Traditionally international schools have been non-profit, but in recent years there has been a dramatic increase in for-profit schools.  Few of the international schools have teacher unions.  Pay for teachers and administrators is comparable to that in the U.S., but there is no adjustment for inflation.  On the other hand free air fare home is a benefit enjoyed by Joe as he spends at least four weeks every summer in Frankfort.
